About us
B11 Education Ltd is a school improvement company, providing a wide range of consultancy services, training and Ofsted help.

We offer tailored support, advice and guidance to all types of schools, academies, further education colleges and a variety of other educational establishments.

B11 has grown significantly since 2010; this is largely due to personal recommendations from existing clients. We are well-known for the quality of our services and achievements in school improvement.

We work in partnership with educators across the country using our extensive network of outstanding and well respected consultants. They are highly trained professionals with a wealth of senior management experience as headteachers, Ofsted inspectors, local authority school improvement officers and HMI. They have a proven track record and have been recruited for their unique abilities to support schools and teachers as well as their professional expertise in school improvement.
Our in-school training programmes and reviews have been designed to provide expert advice, combined with practical activities to support a wide range of educational establishments looking to continually improve. Our training courses also prove popular with those looking to achieve the best from their Ofsted inspections and are fantastic CPD.

The Senior B11 Consultants

Anthony
PRINCIPAL CONSULTANTAnthony

Anthony is a highly experienced School Inspector and trainer. He held senior management positions before becoming a local authority General Inspector-Adviser and School Improvement Officer. Anthony trained as an Ofsted accredited school inspector and then became an Ofsted Registered Inspector (RgI). He has considerable experience of inspecting academies, secondary and primary schools. He also inspects international schools in Europe, Indonesia, Taiwan and Singapore.

His vast experience of school improvement means that he is in increasing demand as a trainer and works throughout the country delivering highly acclaimed, bespoke training to local authorities, schools and academies. Anthony has worked with Ofsted for over 20 years. Until recently, he was Principal Inspector for the north region. He regularly undertakes quality assurance work for various multi academy trusts. Anthony is an Education Adviser with the Department for Education and is the founder of and Principal Consultant with B11 Education Ltd.

Rob
SENIOR CONSULTANTRob

Rob has held advanced skills teacher and senior positions in secondary schools, local authority advisory roles. Rob holds a degree in music and a masters degree in educational multimedia and e-learning and is a fluent Spanish speaker. Rob was a GCSE principal examiner for 12 years and founder of the music teacher’s resource site in 1994 which still receives over 100,000 online visits each month.

Rob was principal of a teacher training partnership for 6 years before becoming an education consultant in 2004. Rob has been a lead inspector since 2008 and has led around 300 Ofsted inspections in primary, secondary, special and independent schools. He is an accredited enhanced SEN inspector and a DfE Education Adviser. Rob undertakes quality assurance work for various multi academy trusts and is in demand as a consultant on teaching and learning and how to use achievement data effectively. Rob has been a Senior Consultant with B11 Education for seven years.

Jim
PRIMARY SPECIALISTJim

Jim is a highly effective school inspector and educational consultant. He has held senior management positions in schools, CfBT Inspection Services and the National Strategies, acting on behalf of the DfE. Jim has been inspecting schools (Ofsted) since 2005 and in November 2015, Jim was appointed as a Specialist Adviser for the DfE. Jim also works with a number of local authorities and academy trusts within the UK to support their priority schools/academies. Jim supports headteacher performance management and also delivers staff and governor development training in a number of schools, academies and free schools. Jim provides coaching and training for headteachers who are new to their role.

He is a lead inspector for British schools overseas; he inspects in Dubai, Nigeria, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand and also conducts International School Quality Mark (ISQM) accreditation visits. Jim inspects in Abu Dhabi for the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and in Dubai for the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB). Jim is also a school improvement partner for schools in Thailand, Singapore and China. He has been a Senior Consultant with B11 Education for seven years and is one of our lead primary specialists.

Christine
SENIOR MANAGING CONSULTANTChristine

Christine has considerable experience of school improvement. As a former senior local authority adviser, school improvement partner and National Challenge Adviser, as well as National Strategies school improvement regional adviser, she has worked extensively with schools in challenging circumstances to effect improvements.

Christine’s current work includes both leading and coordinating reviews and school improvement for large consortia, providing ‘resident inspector’ support for a local authority and school improvement partner support for a number of schools and multi-academy trusts. She is also an Education Adviser with the Department for Education. As an accredited lead inspector, Christine also has significant experience of leading Ofsted inspections in both primary and secondary schools. Christine is a very effective trainer who offers bespoke training on a wide range of issues to suit all levels of audience. Christine is the Senior Managing Consultant with B11 Education.

Liz
LEAD CONSULTANT FOR EARLY YEARS AND SENDLiz

Liz has had more than 20 years school inspection experience. She has led numerous inspections in primary, special and secondary schools. Liz was a full-time senior managing inspector in the north and led the introduction of children’s centre inspections. She has been an Ofsted accredited trainer and has inspected initial teacher education. Her own teaching experience is in primary and special education, she has led a unit for children with SEN, been an advisory teacher and a senior lecturer in higher education.

Liz has also been an adviser, inspector, education officer and head of both education 3-11 and inclusion in two local authorities. She is currently a consultant providing school improvement advice and support for a wide variety of primary, secondary and special schools and PRUs. This includes in-depth reviews of teaching and learning, SEND, safeguarding and pupil premium as well as regular termly visits to support self-evaluation and development. Liz has been a Senior Consultant with B11 Education for seven years.

Julie
SELF-EVALUATION AND IMPROVEMENT PLANNING SPECIALISTJulie

Julie has extensive experience as a teacher, trainer, Ofsted inspector and adviser. She worked as a senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University with responsibility for running a postgraduate course, as well as working on primary and secondary undergraduate programmes. She then took up a full time post with Ofsted and worked as HMI for six years. Julie has a great deal of experience of inspecting schools and teacher training providers, both as a lead inspector and a team member. She works as a school improvement adviser to numerous schools and academies with a sharp focus on practical approaches to improving teaching and learning. She also has recent experience as an associate headteacher.

Through her work with B11, Julie is an adviser for several academy trusts and sponsors and also works with the Department for Education in supporting providers of teacher training programmes. She is the author of ‘Self Propelled Learning and Effective Teaching’ and a regular columnist for Teach Primary magazine. Julie has been a Senior Consultant with B11 Education for seven years.

Peter
LEAD SECONDARY AND SIXTH FORM SPECIALISTPeter

Peter has considerable experience as a senior leader in secondary schools, a school inspector and trainer. He worked for Ofsted as an additional inspector and was later seconded directly to Ofsted. Peter then became Senior Managing Inspector with Ofsted’s inspection service provider in the north. He has extensive experience of leading school inspections across both primary and secondary phases.

In September 2011 Peter became a Senior Consultant with B11 Education and continued to work as a lead inspector for Ofsted. He is a highly effective trainer and has led many conferences and training events across the country. He works with several governing bodies as an external adviser for headteachers' performance management. Peter is a Lead Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate and an external adviser for the Department for Education. He also works directly to Sir David Carter in his National Sponsors Unit looking after one of the nine major national Multi Academy Trusts in England. More recently he has been an Associate Vice Principal for an outstanding Multi Academy Trust and an Interim Executive Principal for an 11-18 academy. He is currently a Trustee of a MAT in Cheshire and on the national secondary advisory board for a southern based MAT.

James
LEAD PRIMARY CONSULTANTJames

James held four primary headships over his career, taking two schools out of special measures. He became an accredited school inspector in 1996 when working as a senior adviser in a large local authority. He was recruited to Her Majesty’s Inspectorate in 2004 as HMI where he led inspections and survey work across all phases as well as leading inspections of initial teacher education in universities and colleges. He inspected Service Children’s Education (SCE) abroad and led HMI training in early years, assessment, SEN and curriculum. He was then appointed as assistant director to a large local authority where he was director of education services.

James continues to work as a school inspector as well as a consultant to a number of academy trusts including the Catholic Diocese of Hallam. He conducts safeguarding reviews in primary and secondary schools and early years settings. He is also an Education Adviser for the DfE. James has been a Senior Consultant with B11 Education for six years.

Kath
SENIOR CONSULTANT AND LEAD SCIENCE SPECIALISTKath

Kath spent most of her career in secondary schools and became a very experienced curriculum deputy, then secondary headteacher. Since leaving her headship in 2011, she has worked as an education consultant. Her work is far ranging and includes safeguarding audits, developmental reviews and training for teachers and governors. She is also a school improvement partner for several schools in the North West.

She is an accredited facilitator with the National College for School leadership and delivered the middle leader programme between 2011 and 2013. Kath is also a highly experienced inspector of schools and teacher training. Kath has been an Education Consultant with B11 Education for six years.
