So, what is the key to ensuring the above review works for your school? In a nutshell, personalisation. Perhaps you are running an outstanding school wanting to retain its rating or facing challenges heading up a school identified as requiring improvement. Or it could be that you are leading a multi- academy trust, with a host of different schools each requiring different levels of developmental support. Regardless of your needs, what we do is bespoke. This means that, while we use the current Ofsted framework as the backbone of this robust health check, the scope and intensity of our work is all customised and agreed with you in advance.

How does it work?

  • Contact us to discuss your requirements. We offer a free 20-minute consultation with our most experienced consultants to find out what you require and how a review can best be scoped out to meet your needs. We can deploy  any number of consultants depending  on the size of the school, your requirements and your budget. We would recommend two consultants spending two days on site as a starting point for discussion. 
  • Once the visits are timetabled, our lead consultant will spend a day preparing for the review. This will enable them to analyse the school’s self-evaluation documentation, latest Ofsted report, school website and published results data. They will also ensure that other consultants, peer headteachers and/or school leaders joining the review receive a concise written briefing so that they are well-informed prior to visiting. 
  • Once in school, a series of activities will take place, such as learning walks, work scrutiny, leadership meetings, document scrutiny, pupil discussion and feedback. We pride ourselves on ensuring that all our work is developmental and encourage leaders to join us in most of the activities to facilitate an ongoing professional dialogue. 
  • At the end of each visit, verbal feedback will be given to the headteacher and others as required by the client. All feedback, both verbal and written, will be clear, concise, based on an accurate evaluation of the evidence collected, and delivered in a supportive and developmental manner. 
  • A comprehensive report with specific recommendations for action will then be prepared and submitted to the school within two weeks of the last day on site for a factual accuracy check.
